About
You deserve a brief glimpse into the author’s background and point of reference.
I am a husband, a father, and a grandfather. My wife and I live near the small East Texas town of Silsbee. My religious experiences began at home with Christian parents, but have included Methodist, home churches, Southern Baptist, Church of Christ, and non-denominational Spirit-filled congregations. I currently serve as an elder at Journey Community Church in Lumberton, Texas. My professional career has been spent as a trial attorney with the firm of Orgain, Bell & Tucker.
Most of all, I seek to live my life as a follower of Jesus Christ. I believe that He chose to create humans in God’s image as part of His good creation. Although mankind chose to reject and abandon the good ways of God, He entered this world in human form. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus achieved a victory that defeated death and evil through a plan to redeem, restore, recreate, and resurrect creatures who believe in Him. Through the Spirit of God, we live eternally and will reveal God’s ultimate purposes - His glory - in a new heaven and a new earth. There will be a judgment for those who exchanged the truth about God for a lie, but God offers a way to salvation. God’s creative process of Christ-likeness continues and overcomes evil by revealing His nature of love, mercy, justice, goodness, kindness, compassion, wrath, and forgiveness. He still calls us to love Him with all our heart, mind, and soul, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. There is much more to share about God’s ways and my beliefs, but this good news informs my worldview.
